Christina Cacho Sakai, LMFT, is an esteemed Latinx (Mexican-American) psychotherapist with a deep commitment to providing culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and social justice-oriented therapy.

Her passion lies in guiding individuals through the transformative processes of healing from trauma, befriending anxiety, processing grief and loss, exploring creativity, and honoring their full intersectional identities.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Christina's journey toward becoming a therapist began at a young age. Even as a child, her natural gift for active listening drew friends to seek her guidance.

With an innate sense of observation, curiosity, and a touch of humor, Christina effortlessly connects with people, fostering a safe and trusting therapeutic environment.

Motivated by her innate abilities, she embarked on the path to becoming a psychotherapist.

In 1997, Christina earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and later obtained her graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from New College of California in San Francisco in 2002. Christina proudly became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California in 2008.

Constantly driven by her passion for personal growth and an interest in how the body holds trauma, Christina enrolled in Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing® Training Certificate Program in 2022, scheduled to be completed in 2024.

With extensive experience as a former community-based therapist, clinical supervisor, associate director, and adjunct faculty member at CSULA, Christina has honed her expertise in serving diverse communities. In her private practice, she offers psychotherapy specifically tailored for BIPOC individuals, fostering a culturally responsive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and social justice-oriented atmosphere.
